UNSURE WHAT BIKE YOU WANT?

Here are some basic descriptions of the types of bikes we sell ...

MOUNTAIN BIKES - The term mountain bike refers to a wide range; some are designed for rough off-road riding, some are really just durable street bikes that could also handle some light duty path riding. All will have easy shifting and super low gears for getting up hills. Most will have front suspension ( shock forks ) and some will be dual suspension. Trek, Klein, Giant, and Gary Fisher

COMFORT BIKES - Similar to mountain bikes, but a more upright posture (higher handlebars) bigger, softer seats, suspension seatposts (really a treat), fairly smooth wide tires - some will even have shock forks. These are fun bikes for the recreational rider that can easily handle pavement, dirt road, or bike paths. Trek, Gary Fisher and Giant.

HYBRID BIKES - like a mountain or comfort bike with taller, medium width tires that roll more easily and are a good option for riders who will stay primarily on roads, but don't want a "bent over" bike. Lighter and faster than a comparable mountain bike. Giant, Trek, and Gary Fisher.

RECUMBENT BIKES - Recumbent bicycles have been around since the mid-1800s, yet only recently have they captured the imagination and enthusiasm of riders and buildings. Ideal for recreational fitness riding, touring or commuting, many find recumbents faster, more efficient, and far more comfortable than upright bikes.
Burley and Giant.

ROAD BIKES - fast, light bikes with thin tires made for pavement only. Drop handlebars allow a variety of hand positions and a more aero profile. If this is the right bike for you, you probably already know what they are. Colnago, Kestrel, Felt, Lemond, Trek, Klein, and Giant.

TRIATHLON BIKES - the most aero of road bikes used primarily for multi-sport events like biathlon (bike/run) or triathlon (swim/bike/run). Kestrel, Felt, Quintana Roo and Giant.

TOURING - a term often misused, these are stable road bikes with slightly larger tires, stronger wheels, a relaxed position, slightly slower steering, and the ability to load up with lots of gear. Giant and Trek.

TANDEM - Two riders, one bike. Too much fun.
Trek (in stock) and Burley (by special order).

BMX/FREESTYLE - The lightest fastest type of 20 inch bike, these are designed to ride in the dirt. One hand brake in the rear, knobby tires, no gyro. Not for jumping., Eastern, Hoffman, Felt, Giant, Trek.

DIRT JUMPING - 20 inch bikes with heavy duty wheels, frame, forks, handlebars, and cranks for taking flight. These bikes are good for scaring yourself. Wear a helmet and pads., Eastern, Hoffman, Felt, Giant, Trek..
